Performance Management Check ®
Your perfect starting point for a business oriented and innovative Digital Performance Management
Overview
Digital Performance Management (PM) solutions are usually tailor-made, very individually adapted to the respective company, as they reflect its strategy, goals, organisation, processes and culture.
Different implementation and deployment scenarios are conceivable for a company.
A sensible starting point for every PM project is therefore our Performance Management Check ®.
Based on the company’s strategy and goals, as well as current „Red Spots“
- the relevant application/information needs of your company are identified,
- solution portfolios are developed on this basis and
- Implementation strategies/scenarios are developed with a focus on the business value of the (future) solution
The result is Feasibility(overall concept), in which the „Big Picture“ of your future Digital Performance Management is drawn. Consisting of:
- Content and focus/differentiation from other systems
- Solution architecture
- Master plan with prioritisation, taking into account business needs and “easy wins”
- (Rough) cost/resource estimate
- Business benefits
These results form the basis for a coordinated approach and ensuring a common understanding of the solution for all participants – but above all for achieving the project goals!
Methodology and approach
The development of the Feasibility takes place in 2 iterative steps:
½ day workshops: Selected employees from the relevant departments/areas of your company. The workshops & participants are determined on the basis of a briefing workshop.
Core questions and issues:
- Corporate strategy and goals
- Existing IT infrastructure and strategy, as well as plans, future developments
- User requirements, application/information needs and „Business Needs“
- „Red Spots“, as well as their role and importance in the future Enterprise DWH solution
- Tasks, content & application focus of the Enterprise DWH solution
- Other projects with relevance
Based on the results and findings from the survey part, the actual Feasibility (overall concept) is developed in the second step. Rounded off by supplementary discussions (if required).
Tasks:
- Elaboration or aggregation of “Business Needs”, tasks, contents & application priorities
- Priorisation of topics–especially clarification of „Red-Spots“
- Pointing out problems and possible critical points in the project – rough proposals for measures to overcome them
- Identification of the required human resources
- Outline of the future solution portfolio/architecture
- Implementation strategies / project scenarios
- Drawing up the roadmap and the cost estimate
- Elaboration of the benefit aspects
Result: Feasibility (overall concept) for the introduction of (advanced) analytics / enterprise data warehouse (DWH) solutions and their presentation to the decision-makers (Stop or Go decision)!
Approach
Based on the overall concept, a phased approach is recommended – prioritised according to Business Benefit
Result
The result is a Feasibility (overall concept) in which the “big picture” for the future company-wide (advanced) analytics / enterprise DWH solution is drawn, as well as its presentation to the decision-makers (Stop or Go!)
In detail consisting of:
- Framework conditions, requirements and application/information needs of future users, business needs
- Tasks, contents and focal points of the solution, delimitation
- Solution portfolio/architecture: Company-wide existing systems or new systems to be created in the future, in coordination with operational systems and the required hardware and software infrastructure (in-house and/or cloud, on premise and/or SaaS)
- Project goals und benefits
- Roadmap (phase concept) with prioritisation taking into account business needs (“where is the shoe pinching the most”), budgets, other relevant projects (already running and/or yet to be started) – but above all possible first rapid successes in the 1st phase (“quick wins”)
- Rough project organisation for the overall project and for the 1st phase in detail (teams with respective tasks, etc.)
- Rough time and cost estimate for the overall project and for the 1st project phase in detail (binding if the solution is realised with PM Factory)!
Business Benefits
The Feasibility study provides you with a sound decision-making basis for the introduction of a group-wide (advanced) analytics / enterprise DWH solution for your company.
Especially …
- You have a “big picture” of the future (advanced) analytics / enterprise DWH solution and its sensible implementation steps with corresponding prioritisation (roadmap)!
- The focus is on the contents and not (only) the technology. The main focus of the study is the “business needs” of the company and the needs of the users – not a technical love of detail!
- All relevant stakeholders have a common understanding of the project and the solution!
- Possible and very probable cost savings through a concerted and coordinated approach – no isolated solutions in individual parts of the company, departments/areas!
- Possible and very probable cost savings through optimisation of the existing or new solution portfolio to be created in the future – no parallel systems and (expensive) application/information over-supplies!
- Cost savings for later, possible implementation projects – “big picture” and overall concept prevents “conceptless” implementation projects!
