Press conference: Kickoff for the "Oper Burg Gars" 2026 season

Within the historic walls of one of Austria’s oldest castles, the BURG GARS Opera is preparing for a new and inspiring season. Once again, under the artistic direction of Clemens Unterreiner, the castle is opening its doors to music lovers and culture enthusiasts – and demonstrating once more why this festival’s reputation extends far beyond the borders of the Kamptal region.

Visitors can look forward to a season that combines the special atmosphere of the castle with top-class artistic performances. We are particularly looking forward to the moving opera Madama Butterfly and the popular Stars in Gars event.

Like no other place, the BURG GARS opera house represents a unique combination of culture, nature, and history—an experience that brings together sound, space, and emotion in touching harmony.
